Most of the overseas students studying universities in Taiwan are from Macau, according to statistics.
Figures released by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Centre in Macau shows that 30.6%, or 3,932 Macau students, are studying at tertiary education institutions in Taiwan in 2009.
The second place is Malaysia, 3,564; and the third Hong Kong, 1,967.
In comparison to 2008, there was a 22% increase in the number of Macau students enrolling. The number of students in 2008 was 3,208.
