Macau ranks at the 20th in terms of economic freedom in the world.
The ranking was compiled by the Wall Street Journal and the Heritage Foundation of the United States, and shows that Macau’s global economic freedom index has improved by 0.5 points to 72.5, compared to 2009.
Meanwhile, Macau ranks at the 6th in economic freedom in the Asia-Pacific region, after Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
Government expenditure has received the highest score, at 95.2, which is way higher than the global average of 65.
However, integrity has received a low score, at only 54.
