The Government decides to build a second public hospital, which will be located on the Islands.
Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Cheong U (張裕) said that the decision will be formally made at the Policy Address of the Chief Executive Chui Sai On (崔世安) in March.
Cheong said that the Government intends to set up the hospital at Cotai, but technical assessments and feasibility studies are under way before final location is decided.
The hospital will be a general hospital, and the possibility to provide facilities to train current medical staff is not ruled out.
Meanwhile, Cheong refused to say when the hospital would be completed, explaining that there are other problems to be considered.
