Macau baby ‘found kidney stones’
A Macau baby is under treatment in a private hospital in Hong Kong for kidney stones, but uncertain whether it is connected with the contaminated milk powder in mainland China.
The Health Service said in a press release that kidney stones found in babies may not be connected with melamine, the chemical found in the contaminated Sanlu milk powder being sold in mainland China.
It attempted to contact the parents of the baby, but they are currently not in Macau.
It is reported that the baby was fed with milk powder purchased in Macau and milk paste produced in Taiwan.
Since Sanlu milk powder is not available for sale in Macau, whether the Taiwan-made milk paste contained the contaminated milk powder is yet to be established.
Meanwhile, two types of Taiwan-made drinks, papaya milk and coffee, were recalled after they were found using the contaminated milk powder as raw materials.
