Galaxy croupier supervisor quota axed by Govt

September 12, 2008 By: blogmacau.info Category: Society

The Government has axed 58 non-resident croupier supervisor quota of Galaxy Casino after equal number of laid off local employees fail to get their job back even though they have received further training.

The Economic and Financial Secretary Tam Pak Yuen (譚伯源) explained that because 58 former local employees of Galaxy Casino are qualified to become croupier supervisors after receiving training, they are then qualified to fill the position in order to guarantee the right to work of the local people.

The Government has demanded Galaxy Casino to start a recruitment campaign as soon as possible by allowing both existing employees and the 58 former employees to apply for these positions.

There were 150 foreign croupier supervisors working for the firm before the quota cut.

The decision was made after the trade union for casino workers made a complaint.

Galaxy Casino said that they accepted the Government’s decision

  3. The talents in Macau are few and far between. From what I have heard these dealers who were made redundant were the worst of the lot – that’s why they were chosen for redundancy. Now Galaxy will have to re-hire them as supervisors!
    Macau government is a joke!!
