Individual visits to Macau and HK to be seperated

Mainland Chinese residents intending to visit Macau and Hong Kong will have to apply for separate permits from September onwards.

Travel agents in Guangzhou have received notification froom the police authorities of Guangdong Province in recent days, according to Macao Daily News report.

The measure will mean that mainland Chinese visitors to cannot enter Macau from Hong Kong if their permits do not contain visas to Macau.

This year also marks the fifth anniversary of the individual travelling scheme. Statistics show that since its inauguration from July 2003 until the end of June 2008, Guangdong Province has issued more than 48 million permits, of which visas to Macau numbered 22,772,300.
