Four-way talks dealt with Galaxy redundancy

Redundant workers from Galaxy casinos met representatives of employer, the Government and the trade union to discuss subsequent arrangements.

Galaxy casinos agreed to give a reply to the demand of the redundant workers for re-employment and pay cut this afternoon (2 July).

Director of Labour Affairs Bureau, Shuen Ka Hung (®]®a¶¯) said after the three-hour meeting that the results were ‘positive’.

He also pointed out that the Bureau did not find any local employees made redundant from positions rather than croupiers, although it discovered that pregnant employees had lost their job, which could be against the existing regulations.

The Bureau appealed to those affected to contact them for assistance.

Meanwhile, some redundant workers walked away from the talks, accusing the employer for ‘not showing sincerity’.

They threatened assembly today and even appealed to colleagues to go on ‘strike’.
